Shreya Ghoshal has officially called off her performance in Surat. The concert was set to be a part of her “All Hearts Tour” and was planned to be held at Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Indoor Stadium on April 26.
This comes on the heels of the Pahalgam,Jammu and Kashmir, terrorist attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians.
Official Statement Released on Instagram
Shreya Ghoshal along with the event organizers posted a statement on Instagram explaining the decision. They addressed the conceren recently raised to justify the cancellation.
The statement read:
“Following the recent unfortunate circumstances, the organizers and the artist in charge have reached a joint consensus to cancel the show which was to be held in Surat on April 26th, this Saturday. Every ticket buyer will be entitled to a complete refund, and the funds will be refunded through the initial payment channel used. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.”
Shreya Ghoshal Expresses Deep Grief
On Instagram, Shreya Ghoshal shared an emotional message expressing her sorrow over the Pahalgam attack. She wrote:
“Pahalgam is all I think of. The silence that would have come after the chaos. The families whose lives will never be the same. It's heart-wrenching to think that innocent lives were taken in such a breathtakingly serene location where lives untouched by violence had become collateral. And that is ghastly. To the nation’s soul. Every family that has become a casualty to this brutal act of hatred must be supported. We mourn with you. And we’ll not forget.”
Solidarity From the Music Community
In remembrance of the victims, singer Arijit Singh also cancelled his concert for April 27 in Chennai soon after Ghoshal announced his decision.
This represents a united act of mourning and sympathy by the artists caused as a response to the national tragedy.
