The show ran for three seasons with the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service. Season 3 of the show started in November and culminated on January 25th. The show itself began streaming on Max in 2021.

Kaling worked with Justin Noble to co-create the show during her overall contract with the Warner Bros. Television studio. As stated in the official logline, “the program ‘follows a group of college students at New England's prestigious Essex College” two-syllable.”

A representative for WBTV did not answer any questions, while one person with an insider tip told me the studio is trying to sell the program to other places.

Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers were part of the season 3 cast. While Reen Rapp played a main role in the first two seasons, she only featured in a few episodes during season 3. She also revealed she was quitting the show after the season ended.

Both Kaling and Noble were executive producers of the show and Noble was also the showrunner. Along with them, Howard Klein from 3 Arts Entertainment also filled the role. Kaling produced through Kaling International while WBTV executive produced the show.

Max hardly shares viewership statistics for its original shows, but the first two seasons of “Sex Lives of College Girls” received positive reviews. Seasons 1 and 2 garnered a 97 and 93 percent, respectively, in Rotten Tomatoes’ critic approval score. However, Season 3 did not do as well, only achieving 29 percent approval based off of seven critics’ reviews.

Max's current original comedy lineup features: “Hacks,” which is gearing up for its fourth season premiere; “And Just Like That” which is preparing for its third season; and “Peacemaker,” which will premiere its second season later this year.
