Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), suffering under a severe and prolonged heatwave, can finally look forward to some much-needed relief. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a significant change in weather conditions starting this Sunday, June 16.
The weather agency is predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain across the region for three consecutive days. In response to the expected weather, the IMD has issued a "Yellow Alert," urging residents to stay aware and updated on the changing conditions.
This welcome break from the scorching heat, which has seen temperatures soar to around 45 degrees Celsius, is attributed to the influence of an active western disturbance. The forecast indicates that strong winds, gusting at speeds of 30-40 km/h, will sweep across the area, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
The three-day wet spell is expected to provide a temporary respite from the oppressive heat. However, the IMD's forecast for the rest of the week suggests that after this brief period of rain, the weather will likely turn dry again, with temperatures gradually beginning to climb from June 20 onwards.
For now, citizens can anticipate cooler and wetter conditions as the city braces for the welcome arrival of pre-monsoon showers.
