Suspense crime, Digital Desk : For weeks, the people of Uttar Pradesh have endured a relentless and punishing heatwave, with soaring temperatures and "red alert" warnings making daily life almost unbearable. As residents look to the skies in a desperate wait for relief, there is finally good news on the horizon.
According to the latest forecasts from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the wait for cooling monsoon rains is nearly over. The weather agency has released a timeline predicting the arrival of the much-anticipated Southwest Monsoon.
When to Expect Rain
The first signs of relief are expected even sooner than the full monsoon. Pre-monsoon showers are predicted to begin across parts of the state between June 18 and June 20. These initial rains will bring the first significant drop in temperature and break the cycle of extreme heat.
Following these welcome showers, the official monsoon is on track to make its entry. The IMD projects that the monsoon will arrive in eastern Uttar Pradesh between June 20 and June 22.
From there, it is expected to advance steadily westward, covering the entire state by the last week of the month, likely between June 25 and June 30.
This forecast is based on the monsoon's current progress, as it has already entered parts of Maharashtra and continues its northward journey. The arrival of the monsoon will bring a definitive end to the life-threatening heat that has gripped cities like Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Kanpur, where temperatures have consistently stayed at extreme levels.
For millions sweltering in the heat, the long, sweltering wait is finally coming to an end.
