Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The White House has made it known that President Donald Trump will be attending the G7 summit in Canada from June 15-17. This will be his first visit to the country during his second term.
Kananaskis, in Alberta, will host the summit along with Canadian Prime minister Mark Carney, and key world leaders such as French President Emmanuelle Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are expected to attend.
Controversy Surrounds Trump and Canada Remarks
Following the trip, Trump’s visit will be preceded by Carney’s already diplomatic visit to Washington D.C. where both leaders had diplomatic talks. Trump’s controversial suggestions of Canada being the 51st state has caused political uproar and public debate.
Policy of Trade and Economy Takes Center Stage
Attending the summit will be the scandalous discussion regarding the trade tariffs the U.S. administration has put in place with several allied countries. Further, Trump’s recently criticized United Kingdom trade deal will also be under focus, especially considering the already raised complaints the deal is too shallow.
Earlier this week, the G7 Finance Ministers' Summit, was held in Canada where the attendees such as the U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, talked about the impacting issues of inflation and economic slowdown with a focus on the prevailing trade tussles.
G7 Set to Adopt Uniform Response to China
China has been heavily discussed across the summit and it’s possible that some form of trade policy was developed. Many G7 nations seem to be adopting a hardline approach alongside the US which suggests there will be a unified strategy in formulating new policies against China.
