Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a public gathering in Bikaner on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi aggressively attacked Pakistan. He said the country supports terrorism only because it does not have the means to fight India directly. In response to Modi’s comments, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters that the Prime Minister ought to respond to essential issues instead of making fictional claims.

Ramesh stated on social media that PM Modi needs to clarify why the suspects in the Pahalgam terror attack have not been arrested. He noted that these people also seem to have connections to a trio of terror activities in Poonch, Gagangir, and Gulmarg during the past year and a half.

Opposition Parties Criticize the Government for Lack of Clarity

The Congress leader reproached Modi for not summoning an all-party meeting or a special parliamentary session to strikingly reiterate and update, if needed, the resolution passed on 22 February 1994 on Jammu and Kashmir. Ramesh pointed to the need to present a united front from within the country in light of the nascent China-Pakistan cooperation demonstrated during Operation Sindoor.

Ramesh also challenged why Modi has refused to comment on statements made by former American president Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio which claimed the U.S. facilitated the most recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

PM Modi regarding Pakistan's involvement and Operation Sindoor

Modi specified in his speech in Bikaner that Pakistan resorts to terrorism simply because it is incapable of defeating India in a traditional warfare. He stated that the Pahalgam attack on April 22 was avenged under Operation Sindoor where, allegedly, 9 terror camps were neutralized in 22 minutes from respite.

He also stated that the military and economy of Pakistan will pay for every single terrorist activity. Moreover, Modi claimed that the airbase of Pakistan Rahim Yar Khan has been destroyed beyond use and claimed that there will not be any communication or commerce with Pakistan except matters concerning Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Context for Operation Sindoor

Sindoor had started as a counter-terrorism operation on 7th May following the Pahalgam incident around the 26th of Pahalgam. Modi said there was an attempted assault on Nal Airport of Bikaner but it was unsuccessful on the part of Pakistan. He further claimed ‘22 minute answer dismantled terrorist fortresses’, which is a response that came after the so-called Sindoor had been claimed to have taken place.
