Suspense crime, Digital Desk : On May 24 th, NITI Aayog’s 10 th Governing Council Meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who noted the persistent efforts of the administration toward the \“Viksit Bharat\” vision, reiterating the target goal of a fully developed India by 2047. During this meeting, he encouraged attending ministers to work on a unified target of full development of the nation which can be achievable through progress on individual states.

During these efforts, he specifically stressed the development of Nagar Palikas, villages, and cities. He quoted,

“We should technically be Viksit by 2047, but this does change if we decide to work pun chapter strengthening unity, which will enable us to blaze developmental projects across various sectors in record time.”

The Role of Tourism in Development

The increase of international visibility paired with infrastructure can be achieved through the promotion of tourism under the banner “One State: One Global Destination”. He encouraged rest of the states enable surrounding cities and towns by promoting at least one world class tourism destination.

Constructing Cities for the Future

As a result of India’s increased urbanization, PM Modi motivated the states to construct sustainable and innovative future ready cities. He mentioned that the cities need to sustainably cater to the ever increasing demand in an economically productive manner.

Encouraging Female Participation in The Economy

While speaking on Nari Shakti (women power), Modi put focus on the need to encourage women selection for employment opportunities. “We need to formulate policies and legislations that guarantee the presence of women in every industry in a dignified way,” he said.

Policies Focused On People For Effective Change

The Prime Minister remarked that every constructive policy needs to create an impact in a citizen's life which is a change from aspiration to action. “When people experience the change, then only it becomes and encourages progress,” he said.

Theme: Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047

“Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat @2047” was the headline of the Governing Council’s 2025 theme, motivating states to prepare vision documents guiding to the national priorities. These plans are aimed at having development targets set through a state’s framework with realistic timelines.

About the Governing Council  

The Aayog's Governing Council comprises the Prime Minister, all the Chief Ministers of the States and Union Territories, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and other important Union Ministers. This was the first significant meeting after Operation Sindoor, and marks a renewed focus on holistic governance as well as cooperative governance.  

The council meetings once a year were started in 2015, and the previous one took place on 27th July 2024.
