Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has responded to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s criticism concerning the ongoing language policy dispute. Using his social media account, Stalin rejected the idea that Tamil Nadu's opposition to the three-language formula was political irony. Instead, he labeled Yogi Adityanath’s remarks as "political black comedy."
Stalin emphasized that Tamil Nadu’s support for the two-language policy and fair constituency delimitation is resonating across the country. He stated that BJP leaders seem unsettled by this growing sentiment, evident through their recent public comments.
Language Imposition Rejected, Dignity Emphasized
Stalin further clarified that the opposition is not directed at any specific language, but rather against the forceful promotion of one language over others. According to him, this stance is not politically motivated but instead rooted in the values of dignity and justice.
Earlier, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, during an ANI interview, described Stalin’s actions as divisive and accused him of manipulating regional and linguistic sentiments due to electoral concerns. Adityanath argued that learning multiple languages is beneficial and should not become a basis for national division.
He highlighted the cultural significance of Tamil, recognizing it as one of India’s oldest languages alongside Sanskrit. Referring to the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam organized in Varanasi, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging cultural integration. He concluded by calling for public awareness against divisive politics and promoting unity.
