Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The IPL 2025 playoff hopes for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) came to a disappointing end on May 5, following a rain-interrupted match against Delhi Capitals (DC) which had to be called off. SRH's Pat Cummins led his side to a brilliant bowling performance where they restricted DC to 133 runs and 7 wickets, but due to rain, they were unable to chase which resulted in a draw.

After 11 matches, the team has a total of 7 points and put them in a position where, even if they are able to win all their upcoming matches, they do not stand a chance of finishing in the top four.

Vettori’s Thoughts on the Season for SRH Have Been Underwhelming at Best

Disappointment for the team was voiced by head coach Vettori as he tries to explain the undeniable divergence of consistency SRH has been suffering from this season.

“It was a really good performance, probably our best bowling and fielding performance of the tournament so far... it’s frustrating that we couldn’t finish it, but that’s cricket,” Vettori stated.

Despite the fact that SRH’s batting in their first match was overwhelming, expectations were set for a more seamless middle into the season.

Strategic Changes Come Off as Misses

Vettori has also noticed how the pitching has changed from previous seasons as being a direct challenge to the more aggressive style SRH adopted on batting.

"The playing conditions have clearly been challenging for this year's batters. I believe the focus changed from aggressive batting to evaluating the conditions though each team seemed to have an aattacking mentality,” he expressed.

Cummins Gets High Praise for His Leadership

The captain of the SRH, Pat Cummins, took the limelight for his superb spell of 3/19 which saw him get the DC's crucial top order. Vettori praised the versatility and leadership of cummins.

“He was presented with the new ball and again reminded everyone why he is such an incredible Test bowler. It is safe to say that he showedrit was his day today,” commented Vettori.

While some might argue that cummins performance was not enough to stack SRH into the knockouts, it is definitely surprising to see that he had the overall underwhelming impressions of the campaign.

For a pretty disappointing season that this was, vewing the future looks in some ways bright.”s” He added, with three matches left some people might argue they have already chalked this season off but they should definitely try to salvage some pride.”

Vettori explained “This looks like the beginning after executing mentally for very strong and smart concepting that we seem to have endless rain waiting to fail.”"
