In the United Nations Security Council, India has suggested a way to establish peace in the Middle East. Along with this, it also said that in the coming time, India will send more goods to help the Palestinian people. Condemning the terrorist attack on Israel, India said that both countries should talk together and find a solution to establish peace.
In an open debate on the situation in the Middle East, India spoke of establishing peace between the two countries instead of supporting any one country. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Parvathaneni Harish said, “India is ready to do more to help the Palestinian people. Our development assistance currently stands at US $ 120 million (Rs 1009 crore). This includes $ 37 million given to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.”
Support for independent Palestine
Parvataneni Harish said, “We also sent the first consignment of 6 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency on October 22 this year. The terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7 deserve our unequivocal condemnation. I reiterate India’s call for the immediate release of all hostages and a ceasefire. We support the two-state solution, which includes the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestine within mutually agreed borders.”
Emphasis on a peaceful and stable Middle East
The Indian representative said “We also urge all members of the international community to join us in this endeavor. India underlines its unwavering belief in its vision of a peaceful and stable Middle East. In India, the international community has a reliable partner that stands ready to continue its engagement with all relevant stakeholders towards building a peaceful and stable Middle East and establishing long-term peace and stability.”
