One user on X claimed that she would “take her in-laws’ properties and leave them destitute.” Others contended her commitment to justice as well and pointed out the honeymoon destination Pahalgam, speculating it was “her idea”.

The couple got married on April 16 and were planning their trip to Kashmir after the visas to Switzerland were delayed.  

Social Media Targets Her Academic Background  

Himanshi, purportedly a PhD scholar from Gurugram, became the victim of social media bullying for her academic affiliations as well. One user associated her with JNU, which claimed her peace message was an “agenda of abating terrorism” and “supporting Pakistan” instead.  

Support From Owaisi and NCW  

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi defended her and advised the government to give attention noting, “Her stand was dignified”.  

“Even in her grief, she said this tragedy shouldn’t create hatred toward Muslims or Kashmiris. The people who are spreading hate are the real supporters of terrorists,” Owaisi said.  

The National Commission for Women (NCW), too, came under fire for the trolling and issued a statement saying, “A woman should not be attacked for her ideological views or personal life.”
