Brett Gardner, former New York Yankees outfielder, and his wife Jessica Gardner have announced the heartbreaking passing of their 14-year-old son, Miller Gardner. The tragedy occurred on Friday, March 21, while the family was on vacation.
Family Statement on Miller’s Passing
In an emotional statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Gardners shared:
“With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller. We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep.”

The family added, “We cannot yet comprehend our life without his infectious smile.”
They described Miller as a beloved son and brother who loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family, and his friends. The couple has asked for privacy as they grieve and search for healing.
New York Yankees Pay Tribute
The New York Yankees organization, where Brett spent his entire MLB career, issued a heartfelt statement of support:
“Our hearts are heavy, and the Yankees family is filled with grief after learning of the passing of Miller Gardner. Words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss.”

The Yankees remembered Miller as having a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and feisty personality, and a warm and loving nature. They emphasized their unconditional love and support for the Gardner family.
