It is known that daughter of former Justice Patel is a British citizen and she resides in London. The daughter of Justice Patel received an attempt to murder letter to her home in London on June 5th. Days before the letter she was even attacked by someone.

Daughter attacked by a hooded man and threatened

Justice Patel stated on Monday that days back he noticed her daughter had been assaulted in the locality by a hooded man wearing a mask. The assaulter punched her many times.

What did British police state on the matter?

On the other hand, the British police issued a statement and reported that detectives are seriously looking into the matter. This covers the attempted burglary of the property and the receipt of the threatening letter in August 2025, the physical assault in April 2026, and the recent threats received in June 2026. Full protection has been afforded to the family of the judge.

The dots lead to the decision in Dawoodi Bohra community's dispute

According to Justice Patel, these assaults and threats are associated with a major decision in the succession and title of 'Syedna', the leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, by him in April 2024.

In this verdict Justice Patel affirmed the claim of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin as the 53rd Dai and leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community. Over the last 10 months since this verdict, Justice Patel has received multiple threatening letters in his personal capacity. One of these threatened letters has even alleged that the decision was made under duress and fraud. The verdict is currently under appeal.
