Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Fans of the popular Hindi daily soap Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin (GHKPM) are bracing for a farewell, as producer Param Singh of Cockrow and Shaika Entertainment has officially confirmed that the show is going off-air. The decision comes after a significant dip in the show's Television Rating Points (TRPs), signaling the end of its nearly four-year run on television.
Param Singh candidly attributed the show's conclusion to its dwindling viewership numbers. He suggested that "probably too much drama" in the storyline contributed to the audience fatigue, leading to a steady decrease in its TRPs. GHKPM was once a ratings powerhouse, frequently challenging the top spot, even giving fierce competition to industry leader Anupamaa.
Launched almost four years ago, GHKPM initially captivated audiences with its compelling storyline and a beloved original cast led by Neil Bhatt, Ayesha Singh, and Harshad Arora. However, a significant generation leap introduced a new lead cast, including Shakti Arora, Bhavika Sharma, and Sumit Singh. While such leaps often aim to refresh narratives, this one evidently failed to maintain the show's earlier momentum, leading to its eventual fall out of the top 5 most-watched shows.
The fate of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin underscores the cutthroat nature of Indian television, where TRPs are the ultimate arbiter of a show's longevity. Despite its past success, the inability to sustain audience interest after major storyline shifts proved to be its undoing. The announcement has left many long-time viewers nostalgic about the show's initial charm and gripping narrative.
