Upon it's release, Sairat, a romantic tragedy drama film released in 2016, starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, turned into a nationwide sensation. To the delight of fans, the critically acclaimed film directed by Nagraj Manjule is scheduled to come back to the big screen, once again.
“Sairat” is a blockbuster Marathi Film whose re-release date was confirmed by its makers on march 10, as its set to release again on March 21, 2025. This gives audiences the opportunity to experience the heart-touching narrative and ever-lasting tunes of the movie once more.
On X, production label Zee Studios posted the news along with a film poster, saying “Iss zingaat jodi ke saath aap phir se #Sairat hone taiyyar hain? Re-releasing in cinemas on 21st March.” This announcement was not anticipated by the fans so it was a pleasant surprise.
The film tells the emotional love story of Archie, played by Rinku Rajguru, and Parshya played by Akash Thosar. Both of which are college students from different castes and fall in love which triggers a devastating family and social clash.
Though the film was made with a shoe-string budget of 4 crore, it grossed over 110 crore worldwide putting it at the top of the list for highest earning ticket sales. The film also did exceptionally well on India's market, earning above 100 crore, making it the highest selling Marathi Film in history.
Her stunning role in the film earned Rinku Rajguru a National Film Award – Special Mention during the 63rd National Film Awards, which proved just how impactful the film was.
Because of how well Sairat did in theaters, many decided to create their own versions of the movie. This includes the 2018 Bollywood rendition, Dhadak, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishan Khatter, which was also met with much love and appreciation.
