Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, half a dozen new weekly trains connecting North India with South India and Mumbai will be inaugurated on January 17th and 18th. The Railways issued an official notice in this regard on January 8th.
Significantly, all these trains have been scheduled to stop at Barsoi Junction, which has generated significant enthusiasm among the residents. The operation of the new trains will provide significant relief, especially to passengers traveling to major cities in South India, including Bengaluru and Kanyakumari, and to Mumbai.
Until now, the lack of trains and ticket availability on these routes had been a major problem. Commenting on this achievement, BJP leader Pintu Yadav said that the weekly train stop at Barsoi will directly benefit not only Barsoi, but also the people of several surrounding districts and the neighboring state of West Bengal.
Passengers from North Dinajpur district headquarters Raiganj, Kaliaganj, as well as many areas including Purnia, Dalkola, Katihar will now be able to travel easily to South India and Mumbai from Barsoi.
Barsoi Junction has already achieved a third-class revenue-based junction status. The arrival of new trains will increase passenger traffic, boosting station revenue and enabling future expansion of passenger amenities.
