Bengaluru, on Saturday, had some much-deserved relief from the sizzling heat as thunderstorms and heavy rains lashed the city. Many regions experienced strong winds and heavy rainfall in the wake of a thundershower estimate by the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) for March 22 and 23.

Nonetheless, these severe weather patterns did impair air travel with around 10 flights being diverted to Chennai instead of Bengaluru, as confirmed by airport authorities which is reported in NDTV.

With the downturn in weather having an impact on their performance, IndiGo Airlines shared on social media platform X that their flights were being impacted chiefly because of bad weather in and around Bengaluru.

“In the interest of ensuring affected travelers are kept updated, we would like to advise that they constantly monitor their flight details. Rebooking and form of payment cancellation can be done without much hassle on our site,” said IndiGo, noting that every effort is being made toward restoring proper service standards as quickly as possible once conditions get better.

Passengers were notified by the carrier that they would receive proper attention concerning the developments explaining there were no charges for any flight cancellations.

On 22nd March, the IMD also predicted scattered showers and thunderstorms for other regions of Karnataka. Recently, these reports have claimed that particular areas in Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar will have possible downpours. The same weather patterns may extend to Bengaluru and the districts around it.

Also, light rains may occur in certain parts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, and Raichur. The IMD has also issued a warning for strong winds of 30-40 kmph in some areas of the state. Still, other places are expected to remain dry.
