New Delhi: You can either love or hate him, but one thing is clear: you cannot ignore him. Salman Khan is back in action with Sikandar. After watching the trailer, it is guaranteed that he is coming with the full-blown energy of “Bhai”.

The trailer features Rashmika Mandanna and is directed by AR Murugadoss. It hints at the mixing of action with drama alongside the signature, ‘whistle-in-theater’ dialogues.

The trailer with the length of 3 minutes and 37 seconds showcases Sanjay Rajkot (Salman Khan) who is wanted for 49 cases in the last five years.

But in typical narrative fashion, a shift must come. In this case, one moves from a run-of-the-mill bad guy cliche to someone who is driven by a depth of purpose.

"A hundred mistakes made with a good heart can be forgiven, but there is no apology for even a single mistake committed intentionally," he argues. That’s the dialogue he delivers when setting the moral conundrum of the character, to which audience can set their own answer.

While the plot thickens, Sanjay is in no other place than Mumbai and it presents its own set of challenges.

But just as the film’s name suggests, Sikandar (which translates to ‘conqueror’), he takes command of his muqaddar (translated to ‘fate’) and clawes his way to the top. The political action thriller has a very strong undercurrent of conflict fighting and justice.

In yet another context, the sentence “Bahut neta jail gaye hain, abhineta bhi (translating to: Many leaders have gone to jail, even actors). No one is untouchable.” is powerful, given how true and real it is. Equally notorious is the statement “I have enough popularity that to not become PM or CM, at least I could be MLA or MP,” which speaks for itself.

The cast of the film is headlined by Salman Khan who plays the role of Sanjay Rajkot while Rashmika Mandanna plays Saisri. Sathyaraj completes the cast in the role of Minister Pradhan.

Sikandar, written by Murugadoss, is the movie which marks Salman’s return to the big screen in 16 months after Tiger 3 (2023) underperformed at the box office.

Following cameos in Singham Again and Baby John (both 2024), this film is his first real return.
