
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah remains one of the highest rated drama serials on Indian television, having first aired in 2008 and completing over 4300 episodes till date. The older cast members have been gradually replaced by newer ones and for the sake of variety. One actor who remains loyal to the show is Memo’s character Jethalal portrayed by Dilip Joshi, who still continues to mesmerize audiences.
Many fans also loved Disha Vakani’s portrayal of Dayaben and had good memories of her pairing with Joshi. Unfortunately, Disha exited TMKOC after giving birth to her daughter in 2017. Sometime later, she settled into motherhood for a second time and now lives away from the public eye and attention. While everyone votes in favor of Disha looking after her family, one common sentiment is that Dayaben’s absence is well understood and felt on TMKOC.
Dayaben and Jethalal's back-and-forth surely was the life of the show and mesmerized viewers like no other duet. Besides, once Dilip told how a phrase aimed at Disha's character created a storm and was never said again during the show.
Dilip shared how it was his improvisation which later turned into a permanently banned phrase. 'Ae pagal aurat’ was bound to come under fire owing to objecting from women’s groups, so having to eventually getting banned was expected. While the viewers did find it funny, it was told with anger which I is well taken as humor.
