Before monsoon, Municipal Corporation Panipat is in action, will spend Rs 1.5 crore on drains cleaning

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Considering the monsoon season in Panipat, Haryana the Municipal Corporation has started a massive campaign to clean the major drains and sewers in the city. Major drains and sewers of the city namely Drain No. 1, Drain No. 2 and Nohra Drain are being cleaned by the Corporation on a large scale. The construction work of drains on highway is also being expedited by instructing to complete it before monsoon. The preparations were reviewed by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Pankaj Yadav in a meeting with concerned departments.

The Municipal Corporation administration has been activated as the possibility of waterlogging and accidents in monsoon increases. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Pankaj Yadav said, a joint meeting of all the concerned departments like HSIDC, HSVP, Irrigation department and NHAI has been called in order to clear the drains.

Nohra Drain will be cleaned

The Commissioner said, long had the complaints of not cleaning of Nohra drain been received and the local councilors had also raised the issue on a large scale. Because of risk of accidents for the children playing around drain a decision to clear drains namely Drain No.1 and Drain No. 2 at a large scale was taken. According to Dr. Yadav, around Rs 1.5 crore tender has been called for clearing drains. He said that on the last occasion the waste removed from drain was being disposed on the roads and great inconvenience was caused to the people but this time the arrangement for scientific disposal of drain waste is made through the tender in the spirit of Swach Bharat Mission. A rate of Rs 550 per tonne for collected and disposed of the waste has been fixed by the government and arrangement of collected waste was put in the rate.

Drain will be cleared before monsoon

Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that a meeting of Deputy Commissioner had been called for the drains constructed on the highway. NHAI will be instructed to complete the construction of all incomplete drains before the monsoon, so that no issue of water logging during rain.

JCB operator, Rizwan, who is cleaning drains said that the draining work is going on continuously and the accumulated waste is being sent outside the city. He said that a tractor took 1.5 hours to take out and disposal of the waste and the train driver Suresh said that 4-5 trips are being made daily and is dumping the waste away from city towards Bhainswal Road. The drain will be cleaned fully by making several tractors ready.
