The much-awaited BCCI Central Contracts for 2025 are expected to be announced soon, and several rising stars are likely to receive their first central retainerships. Players like Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy are anticipated to be included in Grade C, which carries an annual retainership of ₹1 crore.
Abhishek Sharma, a left-handed batter known for his explosive performances, has played over 10 T20Is in the review period, qualifying him for a contract.
Nitish Reddy, an emerging all-rounder, has already featured in five Test matches, meeting the minimum criteria for contract inclusion.
Harshit Rana, despite not meeting the criteria in any one format, has played a cumulative number of international matches that support his selection.
Varun Chakravarthy, with experience in both ODIs and T20Is, is likely to make the cut thanks to consistent performances.
Shreyas Iyer Poised for a Comeback
After being left out of the previous contract list, Shreyas Iyer is expected to make a return, backed by a strong showing in the recent Champions Trophy. His consistent performances and leadership potential could secure him a spot in Grade B or C.
Adjustments Expected for Senior Players
The top-tier players like Jasprit Bumrah are likely to retain their A+ contracts, but there may be revisions for others. Players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja may see a shift from A+ to Grade A, reflecting current team dynamics and format participation.
Minor Changes, Major Implications
While the overall contract structure remains stable, minor inclusions and exclusions are expected based on players’ recent form and selection consistency. The upcoming announcement will also coincide with changes in the support staff of the Indian cricket team, signaling a phase of strategic reshaping.
