Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has fiercely criticized the Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh governments for their recent moves against madrasas. He lamented what he termed a witch-hunting campaign, alleging that these madrasas provided critical support during India’s freedom movement from 1857 to 1947.

Maulana Razvi Alleges Closure of 13 Madrasas in Haldwani

Focusing on the recently imposed lockdown on 13 madrasas in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, Maulana Razvi alleged that they should be opened without delay. He pointed out that these organizations need not be completely locked down because if there is a deficiency in documentation or low standards of education, those can be addressed.

Sketchy Recognition System for Madrasas

Additionally, Maulana Razvi condemned the local governance claiming that these madrasas are already under the society act of 1860. He stated, in her case, the hierarchy as well as the district does have the budgetary requirement for identification, which can’t be accessed unless sufficient funds are made available in the form of bribes.

Highlighting the constitutional rights of minorities, Maulana Razvi remarked that the bulldozer actions in Madhya Pradesh and the forced closures in Uttarakhand are direct violations of these harmful policies. He noted that these actions scope and infringe on the rights of people around the peripheries of these regions. Abrupt and extremely violent governance policies bulldozing through developmental steps meant for citizens unravel hope towards holistic growth designed through peaceful initiatives crafted by the government.

These neglectful policies will dangerously erode the people’s trust, as well as ignore deep routed sentiments, towards the Indian government’s open declaration of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” which is was propagated by PM Modi.
