The political drama ahead of the Bihar assembly elections is heating up, especially within the Mahagathbandhan alliance. In a surprising turn of events in the Jale constituency, RJD leader Rishi Mishra will be contesting the election on a Congress ticket, highlighting the intense negotiations happening behind the scenes.

Seat-sharing talks within the alliance have been tense, and the Jale seat in Darbhanga has been a particular point of contention. Initially, the seat was allocated to the Congress party's quota. However, the RJD had its own strong claimant for the seat in Rishi Mishra and was keen on him being the candidate.

Things took a dramatic turn at the last minute. The Congress was reportedly considering another candidate, but after discussions and pressure from their alliance partner, a compromise was reached In a swift move, Rishi Mishra, who comes from a prominent political family and is the grandson of former Congress leader Lalit Narayan Mishra, was formally inducted into the Congress party and handed the ticket just before the nomination deadline. On Friday, he officially filed his papers to run as the Congress candidate from Jale.

This last-minute switch is seen as a "compromise deal" to maintain unity within the Mahagathbandhan, which has been struggling to finalize its seat-sharing formula Mishra, a former JD(U) MLA, had joined the RJD a few years ago.His candidacy under the Congress symbol is a clear example of the flexible strategies being used by the alliance partners to put forward a united front against their rivals in the upcoming election.
