As per a report published by Quess Corp, between 2020 and 2023, there was an increase in the middle management hiring in the IT services and Global Capability Center verticals as compared to fresher hiring. Higher level positions for those with 4 years to 10 years of experience increased with a YoY growth of 4% compared to freshers these past three years showing a lower growth of 3% YoY.

Mr. Kapil Joshi who is the CEO of Quess IT Staffing said to Money Control, “There is an Increased need for IT Infrastructure and Operation Managers as IT Systems are increasingly becoming more complex and Service Delivery Leads are key for executing seamless outsourced service delivery in the GCCs.”

Especially with the context in mind that many freshers are still unemployed, and the attrition rates are increasing for all major IT companies, this becomes important. In addition, Zinnov-Ness has recently conducted a benchmarking study on the effectiveness of Generative AI and productivity of AI. Among their findings, it was revealed that Junior employees work to a lesser degree of productivity when compared to senior workers with Senior Generative AI technology, and this optimizes the entire talent pyramid.

The requirement for mid-level professionals in leadership positions with strong technical capabilities is particularly robust in IT hubs like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai.

As elucidated by Joshi, positions like Project Manager, Delivery Manager, and Product Manager are paramount wherever IT services roll out, and GCCs are critical within the environment since these people supervise multifaceted projects, deal with clients, and produce systems. A GCC is a unit within a firm that is established to perform information technology (IT) and associated business functions. At the same time, an IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager is needed to manage the ever complicated information technology landscape, and on the other side, human resources (HR) and personnel development managers are required to provide staffing for the emerging technological business. Information Technology (IT) Business Analysts and functional consultants are imperative to the establishment as they ensure that IT products and services achieve the business goals and strategies, so the middle line management recruitment is an important tactical consideration for the companies. Joshi explained, “The growing need to fill in the middle management gaps within IT services and GCCs is indicative of the increasing appetite for those who possess both technical knowledge and soft skills.” As stated by Kearney consulting firm’s Partner, Nishant Nishchal, with respect to GCC recruitment, a number of shifts have been made recently where companies start to vet for not only IT and shared services, but also core capabilities in procurement, engineering R&D, digital transformation, and O&M support centers.

"Because of the industry specialization at hand, companies tend to favor experienced hires which is an outcome of employing people without relevant experience,” he explained.

As expanded their eprons in India and IT firms observe a revival of opportunities after one and a half years , their thrust on the higher order will enhance the need for experts even more.
