Vicky Kaushal’s latest Bollywood release, Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha King Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, witnessed a significant decline in earnings on its fourth day, with collections dropping by over 50%. Despite a strong opening, the film earned only ₹24 crore on Monday, as per early estimates from Sacnilk.com.

On Day 4, Chhaava added ₹24 crore to its total, bringing its India net earnings to ₹140 crore. The film is expected to surpass the ₹150 crore milestone by Day 5.
Opening Day (Feb 14): ₹31 crore (Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opening ever)
Day 2: ₹37 crore (19% rise)
Day 3: ₹48.5 crore (31% jump)
Day 4: ₹24 crore (significant decline)
The film has already emerged as Bollywood’s highest-grossing film of the year, surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force.
Chhaava Worldwide Box Office Collection
As per industry tracker Sacnilk (report dated February 17), Chhaava has also been performing well overseas, collecting ₹18.4 crore in international markets.

The film stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna taking on the role of Aurangzeb. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie explores the life, struggles, and reign of the Maratha warrior. Maddock Films has produced the historical drama.
Vicky Kaushal Calls It His ‘Toughest Role’ Yet
In a recent interview with ANI, Vicky Kaushal described playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as the toughest role of his career.
“Playing such a historical figure requires a lot of discipline, and discipline is tough. If you are not used to it, like I was, it becomes very challenging because it’s not just a one-month commitment; it’s a commitment for one and a half to two years,” he said.
“I’m just happy that I get to say that this is the toughest role I’ve played to date. I hope to continue growing, not just as an actor but as a human being, with every role I take on,” he added.
With Chhaava continuing its strong performance at the box office despite the drop, all eyes are now on its Day 5 numbers to see if it can maintain momentum and reach new milestones.
