BCCI has decided to take disciplinary action on team India after the failure in Australia, as a part of the measures to be taken, there will be restrictions on the wives accompanying the players on tours. If the duration of a single tour exceeds 45 days, then the wives would be allowed to accompany the players for a maximum of 2 weeks.
Additionally, all athletes of the squad must use the single team bus for all transitions throughout the trip and tour barring other avenues of travel, even if they are available. While the majority of these rules are already adhered to, certain players and even some of the support staff occasionally pick another form of transport. These policies and a lot more were deliberated in the review meeting post the dismal performance in Australia. Regardless, there is no intention to enforce these policies at the current time.
Another manager-related issue regarding players and coaches was raised in the meeting. During the Australia tour, a personal manager of a senior coach was allowed on a team bus which is alarming. “Personal managers who are boarding the team bus is also a cause for concern for the anti corruption unit. This must be kept in check for the future. For the tour, the presence of wives is being looked into by the board and a decision will be made shortly.
“Also players and coaches are requested to use only the team bus for transport. There has always been such a situation but lately, players have been taking other means of transport. That needs to be avoided,” one board official involved with the developments told PTI. Meanwhile, It has also been revealed that the wife of one travelling reserve in Australia was shooting content for her youtube channel from behind the scenes during their travel as a couple with the team and during the tour. In the tour itself, some reserve players were sent back home mid tour to play domestic cricket.
