In a major decision taken during the UP Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the government approved an increase in daily duty allowance for 34,092 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PRD) jawans from ₹395 to ₹500. This increase of ₹105 per day will be effective from April 1, 2025.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna stated that the monthly allowance will rise by ₹3,150, based on 30 working days. This will result in an additional financial burden of approximately ₹75.87 crore on the state exchequer annually.

13 of 15 Cabinet Proposals Approved

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, reviewed a total of 15 proposals, of which 13 were approved. The PRD allowance hike was among the key decisions passed in the session.

Finance Department Proposal: Administrative Restructuring Approved

The cabinet also approved a proposal from the Finance Department related to the reorganization of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Cooperative Societies and Panchayat Audit Service Rules 2025.

Key highlights of the restructuring:

Earlier, the system had more promotional posts than entry-level roles.

Now, the organizational pyramid has been rebalanced, increasing lower-level posts to improve efficiency and promotion pathways.

Revised Post Structure:

150 posts upgraded and added to Assistant Audit Officer category, increasing the total to 405 posts.

464 posts downgraded and merged with Auditor posts, now totaling 900 posts at the lower level.

The move aims to create a more balanced and efficient structure, with greater opportunities at the base and fewer higher-level designations over time.
