Star cricketer Virat Kohli owns the record for the most runs scored against Chennai Super Kings in IPL history. The 36-year-old had a decent outing against the five-time champions on March 28 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, scoring 31 runs off 30 balls before getting dismissed. Kolhi did not cope well during his time at the crease and Noor Ahmad was able to dismiss him on the 13th over.
Even so, his innings of 31 helped him to surpass Shikhar Dhawan to score the most runs against CSK. The left-handed batter scored 1057 runs against Chennai while Kohli has moved ahead to score 1084 runs against the team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
RCB scores 196 on the first innings
Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 196 runs in the first innings against Chennai. Phil Salt scored a huge 32 runs off of 16 balls before he was stumped by MS Dhoni in the fifth over. Following Salt's dismissal, Devdutt Padikkal showed some promise but was only able to score 27 runs off of 14 balls. Following that, it was captain Rajat Patidar’s turn to make a statement and he did so profoundly.
While batting in the second innings, the 31-year-old struck 51 runs off 32 balls which greatly benefitted the team's effort. The form of the middle order batters is troubling, though Tim David's unbeaten 22 off 8 balls in the end helped the team set a defendable total.
For Chennai, Noor Ahmad was sensational and took three wickets. Matheesha Pathirana came back from injury and claimed two, while Khaleel Ahmed and Ravichandran Ashwin took one a piece. Regardless, Chennai will feel let down by their bowling and especially their fielding. There were far too many drops from the fielders on this occasion and, while good luck is often needed, that is one aspect of the game the team will be focusing on in the tournament.
