High drama unfolded in Jaipur today as the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly became the target of a chilling bomb threat. An email sent to the official assembly account claimed that RDX explosives had been planted within the premises, giving security forces a tense three-hour window to act before a planned detonation.
Emergency Evacuation and Assembly Lockdown
The threat, received during active hours, immediately sent the state administration into overdrive. Speaker Vasudev Devnani took swift action, coordinating directly with the Director General of Police (DGP) to initiate emergency protocols.
The entire building was quickly evacuated, with MLAs, staff, and visitors moved to safety as the Rajasthan Police cordoned off the area, turning the high-profile zone into a temporary fortress.
Bomb Disposal Squads and Cyber Cell on High Alert
Multiple teams of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Dog Squads were deployed to sweep the massive complex. Every chamber, gallery, and parking lot underwent rigorous inspection.
Simultaneously, the Cyber Cell is working to trace the origin of the email. Preliminary investigations suggest the threat might be linked to a series of hoax emails targeting prominent institutions across the country, though officials are treating the situation with "zero-compromise" seriousness given the mention of RDX.
Wider Threat Scope: Jaipur Institutions Under Watch
Reports indicate that the Assembly wasn't the only target; similar threatening communications were reportedly sent to other vital installations in the city. Security has been beefed up at:
The Rajasthan High Court
Central Government Offices
Major Transport Hubs
Current Status and Safety Measures
While the three-hour ultimatum has passed without incident, the search operation remains thorough to ensure total safety before the building is reopened. Traffic around the Vidhan Sabha has been diverted, and Quick Response Teams (QRT) remain stationed at all entry points.
The administration has urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified rumors on social media while the investigation continues.
