Led by Rohit Sharma, Team India won against New Zeland by 44 runs on Sunday in the Group-A match of the ICC Champions Trophy. On the other hand Team India had already claimed their victory against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Hence they have already made it to the semi finals against Australia on March 4. Moreover, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came under scrutiny as he made headlines during the match against New Zealand on Sunday. There was a moment when Simon Doull, a well known New Zealand cricket commentator, went off on Ravindra Jadeja.

The veteran commentator was quite furious with Jadeja. He in a fit claimed, “What on Earth is going on? That is the worst send off I have ever seen.”

Ravindra Jadeja delivered the big wicket Indian fans had been waiting for when he Bowled out New Zealander Tom Latham (14) in the second ball of the 33rd over. The entire blame was on Latham as he was trying to reverse sweep the ball but completely misjudged the position of the ball and got out. Latham decided to head home without making a scene, but did not think much of a review for himself, which he has all the right to do. Alongside two of my co-commentators, I could not fathom what I had just witnessed Jadeja do. As a bowler, Latham hitting you is not the worst way to end up. It certainly was harsh by the umpires but he is still allowed to question the decision.

Concerns about Jadeja's behavior during the game

Ravindra Jadeja started sprinting towards the pitch's center while celebrating his LBW appeal. In Simon Doull's case, Jadeja's running in the center of the pitch has raised some concerns. His actions were likely intended to pose a threat to the pitch and perform obstruction, and most players would have been warned for it. Nonetheless, on this occasion, the umpires chose not to do anything about it. Simon Doull has also expressed concerns about why action was not taken when there were rules that required it.

'This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone'

“It shouldn’t have been done like this, look at this. (There should have been a warning with this.)” With this comment Simon Doull refrained from making any further comments. Players are always cautioned while stepping into the danger area of the pitch. To inform you, India while being asked to bat first scored 249 runs in 9 wickets with a half century by Shreyas Iyer (79) and then bowled New Zealand out for 205 runs in 45.3 overs. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel's century partnership came after the top three batsman got out in succession. Patel scored 79 in 98 which was his fourth half century in the last six innings and with that was able to help India chase a competitive score of 250. Axar made 42 out of 60 and Shreyas made 79 out of 98.
