Interest-free loans of one lakh for women – 'Didi' (female applicant) to receive 250 rupees per application: Keshav Prasad Maurya
A review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya. The meeting focused on several key areas, including the provision of an incentive of Rs 250 per application for those facilitating the process of granting interest-free loans (up to Rs 1 lakh) to women members of self-help groups (SHGs). Other topics discussed in detail included women's entrepreneurship, the promotion of rural livelihoods, and the progress of various ongoing schemes. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Rural Development) Shri Saurabh Babu, Mission Director Shri Arun Kumar, and other departmental officials.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya stated that the objective of the scheme is to make women associated with self-help groups economically self-reliant, provide them with self-employment opportunities, and strengthen the rural economy. Under this scheme, eligible women are to be provided with interest-free loans totaling up to Rs 1 lakh—disbursed in three phases—to help them start new businesses, expand existing ones, or establish small-scale enterprises. Highlighting the crucial role of support cadres in the implementation of the scheme, it was noted that an incentive of Rs 250 per application is proposed: Rs 50 upon successful submission of an application, Rs 50 upon loan approval, and Rs 150 upon full repayment of the loan. This measure is intended to ensure that eligible women receive guidance and support throughout the entire process, from application to loan repayment.
Shri Maurya directed officials to develop a comprehensive action plan to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach all eligible women. He emphasized that women in self-help groups should be provided with detailed information regarding the scheme’s objectives, eligibility criteria, the application process, loan availability, and the proper utilization of funds. Furthermore, he instructed that effective coordination be established across all levels—from the Gram Panchayat to the Development Block and the District—to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of the scheme's benefits due to a lack of information.
