Lucknow.  UP Weather Update: A change in the weather has started to be seen from the second week of January, the entire western Uttar Pradesh is in the grip of fog and cold wave. Its effect is also visible on the districts of central Uttar Pradesh. The night temperature has dropped significantly in the districts of western Uttar Pradesh. A drop in night temperature was recorded due to strong north-western winds at night. The weather will remain extremely cold on Makar Sankranti as well. The weather forecast is that light rain may also occur in many cities of western UP on 18 and 19 January.

At night, wind speeds of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour made the situation miserable, with icy winds. Many districts in Uttar Pradesh experienced mild sunshine during the day, while others experienced bright sunshine. Kanpur ranked fourth coldest in the state, with the minimum temperature dropping by 3.4 degrees.

Talking about today's weather, icy winds will not let the cold subside on January 14th. The Meteorological Department says that a yellow alert regarding fog and cold will remain in place until January 19th. Today, there is an alert for dense fog in districts like Meerut, Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Saharanpur, Rampur, Amroha, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Sambhal, etc. Meanwhile, icy winds are expected to cause melting in most districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The weather took a turn, dense fog covered the sky.

Shahjahanpur.  The weather has changed again. There has been a dense fog since Wednesday morning. Due to which the visibility has reduced to less than 20 meters. Clouds are covering the sky, due to which the melting has also increased. There was bright sunshine for the last four days, due to which an increase of seven to eight degrees Celsius was recorded in the maximum temperature. However, the minimum mercury was less than five degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, due to clouds and fog, it increased to above six. Dr. Manmohan Singh, scientist of the weather section of the Sugarcane Research Council, said that the fog is affected due to the blowing of westerly wind. He said that the wind speed is high. In such a situation, the clouds may disperse in the afternoon, due to which the sky may become clear.

This city ranked first

Kanpur ranked fourth in the state in terms of cold in the last 24 hours. Muzaffarpur city came in first, with a minimum temperature of 2.1 degrees Celsius. Meerut came in second with 2.9 degrees Celsius, Bareilly third with 3 degrees Celsius, Kanpur fourth with 4 degrees Celsius, and Hardoi fifth with 4.5 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Kanpur was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday night. It dropped to 4 degrees Celsius on Monday, 3.4 degrees below normal. CSA meteorologist Dr. SN Sunil Pandey said that given the heat during the day, it was difficult to predict such cold winds at night, but the temperature dropped sharply at night.
