Congress will not stake a claim in the by-elections to the assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. After Congress’ refusal, the Samajwadi Party (SP), which is part of the ‘India’ alliance, has announced the names of candidates on all 9 seats. The party announced the names of candidates for the remaining three seats on Thursday. Samajwadi Party had given Ghaziabad and Khair seats to Congress under the ‘India’ alliance, but the party decided not to field its candidates in the by-elections and to support the SP candidates for their victory, to protect the Constitution, social harmony, and brotherhood.
In a press release issued by the Samajwadi Party, it was said that the party announced the names of candidates for Ghaziabad, Khair, and Kundarki assembly seats on Thursday. According to the statement, Singh Raj Jatav, Dr. Charu Kain, and Mohammad Rizwan have been fielded from these seats respectively. The party had earlier released separate lists of party candidates for six seats.

- Aligarh’s Khair seat – Dr. Charu Kain
- Kundarki seat of Moradabad – Mohammad Rizwan
There is no election on the Milkipur seat
The Election Commission has announced by-elections on 9 seats except the Milkipur seat of Ayodhya due to a case pending in the court. The last date for filing nominations is October 25. Voting for the by-elections will be held on November 13 and the results will be declared on November 23. MLAs of all constituencies except Sisamau resigned after the general elections this year. All these MLAs have been elected to the Lok Sabha. Sisamau seat MLA Irfan Solanki’s membership of the Legislative Assembly ended due to his conviction in a criminal case, after which these seats have become vacant.
What did the Congress General Secretary say?
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Avinash Pandey while talking to media in Delhi said that this decision has been taken in the interest of society and country after consultation with party leadership. He said that if the BJP is not stopped today, then the constitution, harmony, and brotherhood will be in danger. Earlier, SP President Akhilesh Yadav had announced on Wednesday that in the by-elections to be held on November 13, candidates of the ‘India’ alliance will contest on all 9 seats on his party’s election symbol ‘cycle’. He had said that Congress and SP are united and ‘India’ will write a new chapter of victory in the by-elections.
