Amaravati: The controversy over Prasad in Tirupati Balaji temple of Andhra Pradesh is still going on. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has formed a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case of adulteration in the laddus offered in the temple of Lord Venkateswara. Let us tell you that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had recently made allegations of adulteration in Prasad. He had said that the previous government of Yuvajana Sramika Raithu Congress Party (YSRCP) in the state did not spare even Sri Venkateswara temple and substandard material and animal fat were used to make laddus. Due to those allegations, a big controversy arose in the country and the sentiments of crores of Hindus were hurt.
Sarveshwar Tripathi will lead the SIT
“The Andhra Pradesh government, as part of its commitment to protect the sanctity of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), has found it necessary to constitute an SIT to conduct a detailed and comprehensive inquiry into the entire matter,” Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad said in an order issued late Thursday night. The TTD is the official custodian of the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati. The chief minister had announced on September 22 that the SIT would probe the allegations of adulteration in the laddus. The SIT is headed by Guntur Range Inspector General of Police (IG) Sarvottam Tripathi and other police officers.
YSRCP leaders demanded
Meanwhile, YSRCP leaders said that it is not enough to have the allegations investigated by an agency that reports to the Chief Minister. YSRCP leaders demanded that the case be investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Earlier, former Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy had said that the allegations related to Laddu should not be investigated by an agency working under CM N. Chandrababu Naidu.
