Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : On Friday the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) announced its GDP numbers for 2026 fiscal year. India's economy is projected to grow at a pace of 7.7% for fiscal 2026, up from 7.1% for fiscal 2024-25. As early as February, the government has predicted an economic growth rate of 7.6% in fiscal year 2026.

What did the GDP numbers look like?

The economy was expected by the government to expand by 7.7% for the entire financial year, which concluded in March, up from an earlier forecast in February of 7.6% according to the National Statistics Office.

Real GDP ( or GDP at constant prices) for 2025-26 is estimated at 323.12 lakh crore, as against 299.89 lakh crore for FY 2024-25 according to its first revised estimate (FRE).

Nominal GDP (or GDP at current prices) for 2025-26 is projected at 346.36 lakh crore from 318.07 lakh crore for 2024-25, a growth rate of 8.9%. Real GVA is estimated at 294.91 lakh crore in FY 2025-26 against 273.36 lakh crore for FY 2024-25; this is an increase of 7.9% as against 7.3% for 2024-25. Nominal GVA for 2025-26 is estimated at 314.87 lakh crore against 288.54 lakh crore for 2024-25, an increase of 9.1%.
