Tehran Prepares for Khamenei's Historic June 21 Funeral, Record-Breaking 2 Crore Turnout Expected

Post

There has been no news of the body of Khamenei until now, who died on February 28, after his office and his residence in Tehran had to face the wrath of a bombing during joint US-Israeli airstrikes. Many members of his family died during these strikes. A ceremony and farewell has been planned for the three whole days at the residence, then a funeral procession is expected to take place around June 21, to commemorate Khamenei.

The final funeral rites are going to be performed four months after his death, and his body is expected to be taken in a procession. The last wish of Khamenei was to be buried beside the revered figure of the Shia Islam. If 2 crore people do turn out to bid farewell, it is expected to be the most witnessed procession in recent times and might just surpass the last one that was conducted during the funeral of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic in 1989.
