A case of fraud involving a matrimonial website has surfaced in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh. A school teacher is accused of marrying several working women under false pretenses and later extorting large sums of money from them. At least three female teachers have now filed official complaints, leading to a full-scale police investigation.
Complaints Filed by Female Teachers
On Friday, three women, all working as teachers, reported to the local police station alleging that a male teacher had deceived them into marriage. According to their complaints, the accused not only misled them into marrying him but also extracted significant financial benefits afterward. Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Discovery Sparked by Confrontation at School
The matter escalated when two of the women visited a school in the Churuk area, where the accused is employed. There, they revealed to school staff and others that both had been married to the same man. The situation intensified when they alleged he was currently living with another teacher as his wife. Local police intervened after being alerted and the matter was taken to the Superintendent of Police (SP) for further review.
Victims Share How They Were Deceived
One of the complainants shared that she had met the accused through a matrimonial website and married him in June 2014. The couple also has a child. However, when she expressed interest in transferring to Sonbhadra to be closer to him, he consistently deflected the request. Later, she discovered that he was married to another teacher in the same region and living with her.
Financial Exploitation and Loan Fraud Alleged
Another victim, a teacher from Sant Kabir Nagar, told police that the accused not only married her but also used her credentials to secure a bank loan of ₹42 lakh. She claims the man had married multiple women, particularly targeting working professionals from various districts such as Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Gorakhpur, all through fraudulent methods.
Police Investigation Underway
All three women, accompanied by family members, reached out to SP Ashok Kumar Meena, who has directed the Robertsganj police station to carry out a detailed investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the accused may have married between seven and eight women, each under false pretenses and for personal financial gain.
