What is Shigellosis?
Shigellosis is a bacterial disease brought about by the bacteria Shigella. Shigellosis causes acute diarrhea. This is mainly infection of the intestine. Note that Shigellosis is passed from person to person but that it can be passed by other methods as well.
How can shigellosis be spread?
In most cases it is either through the transmission of infected water or food. It is to be clearly understood that these occur due to poor sanitation and lack of washing. Shigellosis can be transmitted by other sexual means or contact with the sick.
