Japan’s Nikkei rose 0.2% by 0129 GMT, while South Korea’s Kospi added 0.1% and Australia’s equity benchmark added 0.1%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 0.8% and mainland blue chips added 0.3%. U.S. S&P 500 futures edged slightly lower, but that followed a 0.4% gain in the cash index overnight.
