Following its successful run in cinemas, ‘Sky Force’ starring Akshay Kumar and debutant Veer Pahariya, is now available on digital platforms.
The now-patriotic action-drama film has become available for streaming on Prime Video India, but can only be rented for Rs. 349 as of now. The film was initially released during Republic Day and set from 1965 to 1988.
Kumar plays Squadron Leader K.O. Ahuja, and Pahariya plays Wingman TK Vijaya. Both the characters are based on real life Indian soldiers who received awards for bravery, and the movie represents an intriguing period of India’s military history.
The story revolves around Ahuja doing intelligence work to predict a Pakistani invasion. However, while he is proven correct, India is trying to maintain the peace. A lowkey Indian airbase gets bombed by the Pakistanis, and Ahuja aims to brave the odds and turn the tide by fighting back against the Pakistani forces.
During the course of the mission, Vijaya disobeys orders and goes AWOL, which forces Ahuja to undertake a perilous search and rescue mission to find his missing wingman. The film focuses on courage, sacrifice, and the undying spirit of the Indian Air Force.
ETimes Review: The film earned a 3.5-star review from us, and this is what we noted: “In his performance as Wing Commander Ahuja, Akshay Kumar gives an incredible portrayal of a leader who assumes many administrative and emotional roles, exhibiting exceptional courtesy when dealing with red tape. Veer Pahariya makes a remarkable first appearance that is serious, yet captivating. Their subdued portrayal of their lives together is believable and wonderfully vivid. Sharad Kelkar gives an exceptional performance as Squadron Leader Ahmed Hussain, even in his limited screen time. Sara Ali Khan sweetly plays Geeta Vijaya, whose character gives her very little time on screen. Other commendable performances came from Nimrat Kaur as Preeti Ahuja, Manish Chaudhri as Group Captain Lawrence, Soham Mujumdar as Tabby’s rival Debashish Chatterjee, and Varun Badola as Air Chief Marshal Amit.”
