Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore shared her thoughts on the film ‘Nadaaniyan’ where her grandson, Ibrahim Ali Khan, makes his debut. Though the movie is mired in controversy, Tagore is proud of her grandson’s efforts even if the film fell short of expectations.

In her interview with Anandabazar Patrika on YouTube, Sharmila Tagore addressed the film’s reviews by saying “Sara and Ibrahim are doing a wonderful job. Ibrahim’s film was not good, but he still looks very handsome. He has tried his best. These things shouldn’t really be said in front of everyone; but bluntly, the picture isn’t great. In the end, the picture has to be good.”

Mixed reactions accentuated by Family’s unconditional support.

Despite the negative review surrounding ‘Nadaaniyan’ which also starred Khushi Kapoor, Ibrahim’s family has publicly supported him. Along with Sharmila Tagore praising Ibrahim, she also congratulated his sister, actress Sara Ali Khan, saying “Sara is a good actress. She works very hard and is capable of doing a lot more. She’ll also achieve that.”

In a separate interview, Ibrahim’s aunt, actress Soha Ali Khan, commented on Ibrahim’s debut saying that being in the film industry requires a person to be resilient. “You need a thick skin in this line of work,” she shared.

Film’s Overview and Its Acclaim

Nadaaniyan came out on Netflix in March. Karan Johar has produced this film starring Jugal Hansraj, Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhary.

The film generated controversy, especially with its writing, amongst viewers and critics alike. Netizens on social media platforms have pointed out badly crafted dialogues which, contrary to the views of many, were written by seasoned scribes Ishita Moitra and Jehan Handa. Moitra is reputed for her scripts in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Call Me Bae, and Half Girlfriend.
