Dr. Pawan Singhal, a widely respected yoga practitioner and record-holding fitness enthusiast from Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh, died suddenly of a silent heart attack at the age of 54. Known for promoting wellness through yoga, his sudden passing has prompted public concern about health practices and their limitations.
What Happened to Dr. Singhal?
Dr. Singhal, a senior veterinary surgeon by profession, followed a strict daily routine. On the day of his death, he woke at 1 a.m., bathed, prayed, and practiced yoga for over 90 minutes. After running 3 kilometers to a temple, he drove to Tulsi Sarovar Park to conduct his yoga classes. During the journey, he suffered a silent heart attack and was found unresponsive in his vehicle.

Balancing Yoga with Modern Medicine: A Growing Debate
Dr. Singhal’s sudden demise has reignited discussions about whether yoga alone is sufficient for maintaining health. Many medical professionals are calling for a balanced approach.
Dr. Vikas Kumar, a neuro and spine surgeon, shared his thoughts on social media:
“Many yoga followers avoid or reject allopathic medicine. In my OPD, I’ve seen patients with severe hypertension and diabetes stop taking their medication and rely solely on yoga. Can’t we integrate both approaches instead of opposing them?”
