The former president of the US Donald Trump organized an Iftar dinner at the presidential home which also served as a celebration for the mark of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan.
Trump then gave a brief speech at the start of the dinner and expressed his support for the Muslim community by mentioning, “We are keeping our promises to the community.” He further stated, “While I'm president, I will be there for you.”
The White House shared the following post on X Trump’s social media platform: “President Trump hosts Iftar Dinner". They also shared several images from the event.
"My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to forge lasting peace in the Middle East, building on the historic Abraham Accords... While I’m president, I will be there for you," said Trump during his opening speech and went on to explain how the US is trying to establish positive relationships between other countries.
“They should have had a long, long ago. It should have been done. All we want is peace,” the former president said while suggesting that America needs to play a better role when it comes to fulfilling international responsibilities.
Such accords were made to allow Israel to openly communicate with other Arab nations which make these agreements known as normalization in the previous Trump presidency.
Muslim community leaders as well as diplomats and other officials attended the White House event.
This dinner took place while the conflict in West Asia between Israel and Hamas is ongoing after a delicate ceasefire that was mediated by the US, Qatar, and Egypt was broken in Gaza. The ceasefire was broken while Israel attempts to get the Palestinian group to free hostages they captured during the attack that occurred on October seventh, two thousand and twenty-three, at Israel's southern border.
