Politics of Punjab:BJP is trying to manipulate politics of Punjab from Madhya Pradesh
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : BJP has sent a big blow to the Punjab politics by nominating Tarun Chugh as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh. The tenure of Bittu of Rajasthan is finishing this month, whose party has not given him another Rajya Sabha ticket. Tarun Chug who lives in the Namak Mandi locality of Amritsar and considered to be a leading Hindu face of BJP in Punjab has RSS in his family from three generations.
Tarun Chugh joined student politics from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the year 1989 and began his journey in the BJP from a booth in-charge. Chugh is the only leader from Punjab who reached the General Secretary post in BJP's National Executive committee. He is active in national politics since 2014, and he is at present the National General Secretary of the BJP, and National in-charge of SC Morcha and State in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana and Leh-Ladakh.
Why Chugh over Bittu? Political analysts say that it was already announced from the party high command that they are not going to give the second Rajya Sabha ticket to Ravneet Bittu. Although Bittu had already got the position of Union Minister although he had lost the Lok Sabha election this time, now a worker who belongs to the organization has been preferred.
The basic reason of sending Tarun Chugh to Rajya Sabha is to enhance the worker oriented politics in BJP and to put such leaders in higher positions, who work hard from booth level to the National level for long without selfishness. Chug's candidature sends an indication that it is a plan to strengthen the leadership from the base level cadres of Punjab, which is facing a huge decline from. Next year there are elections in Punjab, in the meantime the party had already handed over the command of Punjab to Kewal Singh Dhillon, a former Congress MLA. So, to balance the core cadre and an outside leader, the BJP has nominated Tarun Chugh to Rajya Sabha. Chugh can highlight issues like development, border region, industry, security and the youth in the state in Rajya Sabha. The BJP’s decision in Punjab might find Congress and AAP in trouble at the later stage and it would be worth watching, how BJP takes leverage by nominating Chugh to Rajya Sabha.
