Pakistani Actress Hania Aamir Faces Backlash Over Holi Post and Bindi:

Hania Aamir, an exceptionally talented Pakistani actress, is loved by many across the globe, including people in India. She recently came under criticism for a now-deleted Holi post. She wore a festive bindi and wished her followers a happy Holi, and to her surprise, some Pakistani social media users didn’t appreciate her gesture, claiming that she was disrespecting her religion.

Subsequently, many of her followers have started to unfollow her and some even making distasteful comments, equating her festive Holi greeting with betrayal of faith.

On March 14, Hania posted a set of photos on Instagram and included a few where she had a bindi on. Her caption was: "A wise man once spit facts; hear no evil, see no evil so I speak no evil. Also Happy Holi to everyone celebrating!"

The reactions from her fans were mixed. Many of them called out her celebration of Holi as ‘un-Islamic’. Some accused her of trying too hard to appeal to her Indian fans, resulting in disapproving comments all over the post. A netizen commented, “Maturity is realising..she is doing this to gain much popularity from Indian audience." Another comment said, "I don’t want to follow someone who is fully contributing to distracting our generation so I’m doing my part and unfollowing." Alongside the unfollow comments, one read, “Tht bindi makes me to unfollow uh!.it's ramdan broo and ur doing thissss in Pakistan." A netizen also wrote, “Yaar main aapki bahut badi fan Thi lekin bht disappointed ki aap Musalman hokar hinduon ka riwaj karti hai," expressing their disapproval.

Yet some defended Hania and took a stand for her. One account claimed, “the bindi looks so cute." Others seemed furious writing, "Nothing disgusts me more than seeing such illiterate comments on a normal post." Also, a user bashed, “If you cannot tolerate something as small as a bindi–which is not even a core part of Hindu religious practice–then how can you tolerate a Hindu? Yet, you claim that Islam is a peaceful religion."
