Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Ahead of the solemn observance of Muharram, police in Uttar Pradesh have issued a strict set of directives aimed at ensuring peace and maintaining law and order. The state's Director General of Police (DGP), Prashant Kumar, has ordered a complete ban on any new procession routes and the public display of weapons.

The comprehensive guidelines, sent to all police officials across the state, emphasize that Muharram processions must adhere strictly to their traditional and established routes. The order explicitly states that no "new traditions" will be permitted, a move designed to prevent any potential friction or disputes.

In addition to the ban on new routes, there is a strict prohibition on the public display of weapons (shastra pradarshan). Police have been instructed to communicate these rules clearly and firmly to local religious leaders and members of peace committees to ensure full compliance.

To enforce these directives, the UP police will be leveraging technology. A dedicated social media monitoring team will be active around the clock to track and counter any provocative posts or fake news that could incite trouble. Furthermore, drones will be used to keep a close watch on processions and sensitive areas to manage crowds and respond quickly to any issues.

The order also places a strong emphasis on accountability, stating that local Station House Officers (SHOs) will be held directly responsible for any lapses or untoward incidents in their respective jurisdictions. This proactive approach aims to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the observance of Muharram across the state.
