In a major boost to interstate travel and regional connectivity, Indian Railways has announced a new long-distance train service connecting the desert state of Rajasthan with the mineral-rich land of Jharkhand. This new rail link is designed to facilitate easier travel for pilgrims, students, and migrant workers, significantly enhancing the transport network between Western and Eastern India.
Crossing Through Four Major States
The newly inaugurated train service is strategically routed to pass through four prominent Indian states: Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. By cutting across these regions, the train serves as a vital lifeline for thousands of passengers who previously had to rely on multiple transfers or limited direct options. The route has been planned to cover key industrial and cultural hubs, ensuring high occupancy and utility.
23 Strategic Stoppages for Enhanced Accessibility
To ensure that the benefits of this new service reach both urban and rural populations, the railway authorities have finalized 23 major stations as official halts. These stoppages include prominent junctions in Rajasthan like Jaipur and Ajmer, moving through the heart of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, before reaching its final destination in Jharkhand. These halts are expected to boost local economies at each station, providing better opportunities for small-scale vendors and the local transport sector.
Meeting the Demand for Long-Distance Travel
There has been a long-standing demand from the residents of both states for a more robust direct rail connection. Many people from Jharkhand reside in Rajasthan for coaching (especially in Kota) and marble industry work, while many from Rajasthan travel to Jharkhand for business and religious visits to shrines like Sammed Shikharji. This new train directly addresses these needs, offering a comfortable and affordable alternative to long-haul bus journeys or expensive flights.
Modern Amenities and Schedule
The train is expected to be equipped with modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, ensuring a safer and more comfortable journey with improved suspension and fire-safety features. It will feature a mix of Sleeper, Third AC, and Second AC coaches to cater to different budget segments. While the official timetable and frequency (weekly or bi-weekly) are being updated on the IRCTC portal, the service is expected to significantly reduce the current travel time between the two regions.
