Passport Guidelines: Residing in any nation requires specific documents, as without them numerous activities cannot be accomplished. For instance, in the case of India, the documents required are quite a few in number. Based on the socio-economic status of an individual, these include Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter Card, Ration Card, Driving License, and a passport. Some of these documents are of primary importance and serve no alternatives.
To illustrate, for international travel you will need a passport, there are no other options available. A passport is issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The government has made significant alterations in the policies concerning issuing a passport. Now if any couple gets married and wish to add their wifes name in the passport, this document will be needed.
No more submission of marriage certificate is needed -
In the previous years, both the husband and wife had to undergo a tedious process just to get their names endorsed on the passport and included as a family. As a result, submitting the marriage certificate was a prerequisite for verifying ownership. This means that whenever the couple wanted to travel internationally for work opportunities, they were put in a difficult situation. Obtaining a marriage certificate is largely still not attainable.
In regions like UP and Bihar, even till now marriage certificate is not regarded with due significance. As a result when people living in these areas come forward to change their passport by including their wife’s name, they face innumerable challenges, but as of now the Government of India has lifted marriage requirements of marriage certificate along other certificates.

Since now self declaration along with other proofs will act as authentication of alteration of name of wife through passport, scrutiny processes such as prior submission of marriage documents are no longer mandatory. Hence, that unlocks the marriage restriction clause within a passport.
Wherein, they are permitted to upload the wedding and joint photographs bearing mutual signatures. Some pieces of information will need to be populated as well. This document will serve as a marriage certificate. Based on this the husband and wife's name will be included in their passports.
