The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms across several parts of India on Wednesday, August 26. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are among the regions expected to see rain, with strong winds likely in several areas.

According to the forecast, weather alerts have been issued across 23 states. Wind speeds could reach 80 kmph in parts of Bihar, while other regions may experience lower wind speeds along with heavy or very heavy rainfall.

Delhi-NCR weather: Heavy rain in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram

Delhi and neighbouring NCR areas, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram, are likely to receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on August 26.

The forecast indicates wind gusts of up to 40 kmph across Delhi-NCR. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected across several parts of Delhi, including Central Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi, Shahdara, South Delhi, South-East Delhi, South-West Delhi and West Delhi.

Rain is also likely to bring some relief from humid conditions in the national capital region.

Uttar Pradesh weather: Heavy rain, strong winds forecast

Several districts of Uttar Pradesh are under a heavy rain alert on August 26.

The forecast covers Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Basti, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kushinagar, Mahoba, Mau, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Sultanpur and Varanasi.

Strong winds with speeds of up to 65 kmph are likely in the affected areas.

Bihar weather: Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds

Bihar is likely to see rain and thunderstorms in several districts on Wednesday.

The forecast covers Purnia, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Vaishali, Lakhisarai, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Begusarai, Siwan and Buxar.

Winds could reach 80 kmph in parts of the state during thunderstorms. Heavy rain, lightning and strong winds could affect normal activities in the areas under the warning.

Madhya Pradesh weather: Heavy to very heavy rain likely

Madhya Pradesh is also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 26.

The districts mentioned in the forecast include Chhatarpur, Datia, Gwalior, Niwari, Panna, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli and Tikamgarh.

Gusty winds of up to 55 kmph are also likely during thunderstorms.

Rajasthan weather: Heavy rain, thunderstorms in Jaipur and other districts

Several parts of Rajasthan are likely to see heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The alert covers Churu, Pali, Baran, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Sri Ganganagar, Karauli, Deeg, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Balotra, Kota, Hanumangarh and Bharatpur.

Wind speeds could reach 60 kmph in parts of the state.

Uttarakhand weather: Heavy rain, storms likely

Uttarakhand is also under a heavy rain and thunderstorm alert.

The forecast covers Bageshwar, Champawat, Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Tehri Garhwal. Winds could reach speeds of up to 55 kmph in affected areas.

Heavy rain in hilly areas could make travel conditions difficult.

Himachal Pradesh weather: Heavy rain, strong winds forecast

The IMD has forecast heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Solan, Kangra, Una, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, Kullu and Bilaspur.

Strong winds could reach speeds of up to 60 kmph in some areas during thunderstorms.

Jammu and Kashmir weather: Rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds

Several districts of Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.

The forecast mentions Jammu, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag and Baramulla among the affected areas.

Residents in vulnerable areas should exercise caution during heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly in hilly regions.
