After facing swift backlash for spreading misinformation, the actress issued a heartfelt clarification, revealing the deeply personal reason for her panicked post: her own sister is a flight attendant for Air India.
The incident began when Shaikh posted about a supposed crash at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. However, the "crash" was actually a scheduled mock drill designed to test the airport's emergency response capabilities. Unaware of this, her post contributed to a wave of online confusion.
Social media users quickly began to criticize the Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal star, with many "trolling" her for her "ignorance" and for causing unnecessary panic without verifying the facts.
In response, Reem Shaikh deleted the original post and took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight and apologize. She explained that her reaction was born not out of carelessness, but out of genuine fear.
"My sister flies for Air India," she wrote, explaining that the news made her "heart literally sink." She clarified that her intention was never to spread rumors but was an immediate, emotional reaction driven by concern for her family. "I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused," she added, acknowledging her mistake while appealing for understanding.
Her candid response highlighted the human element behind the online error, turning a moment of public criticism into a relatable story about family and fear in the age of rapid-fire, unverified information.
